The Fall

It was a quiet and starry night when a sudden weakness engulfed me and the strength in my legs gave away. Starting to fall in a forward manner, my left knee involuntarily knelt down, hoping to protect my body from making contact with the rough ground. Instead, my left knee took the toll. The moment the flesh embedded into the jagged and uneven tar road, blood gushed out from my knee. Oh, it looks terrible, I thought. And indeed, upon closer inspection, the wound had the size of an old 50 cent coin, while at the same time, I noticed tiny tar fragments and specks of dust sticking on my seemingly serious wound.
