The Friend

I used to be from a vernacular secondary school. Everyone looks the same, and is the same. We speak the same mother tongue, share the same culture and think in the same way. But the world is much wider than what I used to think of.

In the group assignment of my minor course, I have this opportunity of getting to know with H, a very wise Malay lady with her own interpretation of life, and Y, a mainland Chinese guy with his own vision and dream. By conversing with them, I realise that I have been a frog in the well in my 21 years of living.

I will definitely miss them.

The Speech

The weak and frail girl was invited to deliver a speech during the introduction night of the school. The girl did what she could, she prepared her script and braced herself, hoping not to reveal her nervousness on stage. She was afraid that she would stutter and gave in to her fear. It ended well. All hail to Miss Rowena for nurturing her into a speaker who can talk bravely on stage.

The Student

There was a student who had very high expectation of herself. She hoped to score the highest marks in all the courses she was enrolled in. But little did she know there would always be somebody else better than her. She felt depressed, unwilling to embrace reality. Nothing can stop her tears. 

No one can stop her tears, but herself. She realised that the only way to satisfy her expectation would be to work harder than ever before. You stand up at the place you fall. This is the golden rule of the universe. Nobody can help you to achieve your dreams but yourself. Strive harder, do your best and hope for the best. Remember, great success does not come with little effort. Small people can also do great things.
